Welcome

Memorial pieces are something many of us only think of after we’ve suffered a loss and the only thing we want is to hold or touch the one we lost.  Life can slip away before we realize it, leaving us with nothing more to hold than ashes or flowers from a loved one’s service.
I encourage you to capture the moments of happiness when you can and tuck them into a place where you can look upon them when you need them. Collect sand or shells from a beach walk. A flower from a first recital or a graduation. Keep a lock of hair from your child’s first hair cut.   Snip a tuft of fur from your dog or cat while they’re by your side.  Collect a few petals from your garden. Hold onto a scrap of a piece of clothing, fabric or even a favorite toy.  Take a dried petal from your wedding bouquet or boutonniere. Hold onto the feather that appeared from nowhere.
Find whatever it is that captures the feeling of love and happiness so you can carry it with you, always.

Preserve your memories & carry them with you, always

Fur & feathers

Whether you’ve lost a friend or you just want to keep  a piece of them with you,  carrying a lock of hair or tuft of fur keeps your loved one close, no matter how far away they may be.

Feathers also stand out brilliantly and can even be preserved in full.

Locks of hair

Once a common practice in days long past, carrying a lock of hair is a unique way to hold a loved one close.  A more modern twist is to snip a lock from  a baby’s first hair cut and hold it close as a keepsake.

Flowers & leaves

Funeral flowers are some of the most popluar mementos, but so many of life’s milestones are celebrated with flowers. Petals of wildflowers, wedding and celebratory bouquets all make for wonderful keepsakes.

Sand, soil, shells

Sand from a family vacation, a special trip, your engagement, your honeymoon.

Soil from a special place, a favorite walking trail or a graveside service.

Shell fragments can be incorporated into jewelry and full shells into larger figurines and keepsakes.

Clothing, fabric, threads

A baby’s blanket, a piece of cloth from a well loved shirt, an old quilt, a piece of bedding, a thread from your grandmother’s sewing kit, a piece of lace from a wedding dress, all of these things can be transformed into a piece you can hold & wear daily.

Cremains/Ashes

Carry them with you when they can no longer walk by your side. Having a tangible piece of a loved one with you can provide a great deal of comfort.   For me this is where it all began.  I truly appreciate the weight and importance of creating a piece that tangibly connects you to the earthly remains of a loved one.  Being able to touch and hold those final remains  can be tremendously comforting.  In the moments that mean the most and those in which you miss them most you can still take them with you.
